Cynicism means you care

A man walks into a bar, says “Ouch!” and then continues to complain with his colleagues about how awful work is right now.

I work in the public sector. I do process improvement. Yes, the way we do government needs to change, but it needs to happen on our terms. The neoliberalisation of government services is, in my opinion, both dangerous and does not stand up to scrutiny.

I am an acolite of evolutionary change that is co-created with all stake-holders. I work in a world of top-driven transformation using process reengineering techniques. I see the workplace as a complex adaptive system but large chucks of process improvement treats it like a machine. Of course, this leads to psychological tension.

So, this blog is perhaps a perverse form of therapy. Expect to see some ideas get posited and then beaten with a big stick, definitely expect some self-indulgent over-thinking, and count on sporadic publishing.
